How to care for beauty

Water won't add beauty.

The beauty of jewellery is durable, but at the same time delicate and fragile. By following the right recommendations, your jewellery will enjoy its brilliance for a long time. Most jewellery designs are harmed by direct contact with water, whether from the tap or seawater. The components present in water may affect the appearance of the jewellery, causing it to lose its shine and undergo discoloration. This is particularly true of pearls and mother-of-pearl, which are delicate and sensitive. Any type of jewellery should be removed before bathing or washing dishes.

Protect jewellery against chemicals

Ingredients in detergents used in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as cosmetics such as hairsprays, deodorants, and perfumes, can cause discoloration of jewellery or skin in contact with the jewellery. In most cases, jewellery is not made of pure metal but of alloys that react with various substances. Chemical agents can also harm jewellery components made of natural or organic origin (pearls, amber), causing them to become dull or layered.

Store with care

Take your jewellery out of its packaging and store it in dedicated boxes or soft pouches. This way, it will be protected from damage or dirt. We also encourage regular cleaning of jewellery using the cloths available at YES, and taking advantage of our professional jewellery cleaning services at our Salons

Light and delicate

The advantage of gold jewellery made in thin-wall casting technology, so called "blown", is its relatively low weight. At the same time, however, such jewellery needs to be handled with special care, because it can be permanently damaged by impact or compression.

Avoid snagging

When using thin, delicate chains, it's important to exercise caution. They can easily break or deform with the slightest snag, even during sleep. After removing the chain, avoid bending or coiling it too tightly, as this may cause permanent distortion or breakage.

Handle with care

Precious and natural stones and pearls that adorn jewellery are particularly prone to falling out, breaking, snagging and other damage as a result of random events. Jewellery should be removed before starting household chores, going to bed, or participating in sports and other activities.

Sensitive surfaces

It is advisable to avoid situations where the surfaces of jewellery patterns finished using diamond cutting, satin finishing, gilding, rhodium plating, or patination technologies – which create only a thin outer layer of the product – are exposed to abrasion, as their structure may be damaged.

 Gilding

Gilding on silver jewellery is subject to natural wear. To slow down this process, adhere to a few basic principles. The frequency of wear affects the wear and tear, so it is advisable to avoid wearing jewellery during household chores and to remove it before going to sleep. Gilding can also wear off through contact with water, perfumes, and other cosmetics, as well as depending on the pH of the skin. The change in the colour of the jewellery is not a product defect and is not subject to complaints.

We restore radiance!

The best care practice is to regularly clean jewellery to remove dust. The use of a special jewellery care wipe is recommended. Do not attempt to clean heavily soiled jewellery on your own, especially using cleaning and polishing agents. Periodically, it is advisable to entrust your jewellery to a jeweller for professional care. You are welcome to visit our salons where you can have your jewellery, purchased in our salons as well as on YESjewelery.com, cleaned.
